HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

The night started out early at a Keg house party at Sean and Ryan's place, and then moved to the Purple Onion shortly after. My fairy costume apprently bought ALOT of attention at the bar, as I have never been hit on by so many (and I might add, HOT) guys before. I bet it's the big, sexy, elf ears *wink*. Isn't it funny that I would get hit on more when I'm dressed like a freak? What is that saying?!

Anyways, D got quite a bit of public attention as well for his creative costume idea (see below) and actually ended up winning first place for the best costume. YAY!

Dan held a training session for the Edmonton Nintendo team in a hotel conference room. It was not your usual boring training session, as you can see...

Here we are...working hard, at playing Nintendo's WWE (Bra and Panty match, to be exact). Nice conference, huh?

And really...although this sandwhich platter was filled with extremely delicious sandwhiches of all sorts...is it really necessary that it costs $70 for the whole thing?!

Despite all the "crazy" partying that I seem to portray on this blog, most of my time really is spent on school and school work. But you know, I don't want to bore anybody with that. But incase anyone's wondering, school is going awesome and I am meeting with my supervisors for my intern placement next week to finalize everything. I'm looking forward to that!

Also, I am doing well in school, in terms of assignments and exams. (I just have to brag about the 97% I got on my last exam. YAY!) So all this studying is paying off, and it's partly thanks to my wonderful "new" friends I met this year at school...you girls know who you are!

Tomorrow I have an interview for another possible placement position, however, I found out that they aren't even hiring until next year in April. Honestly, what is the point of interviewing NOW? Anyway, I will still go (but I really don't want to), just for the experience.

And where has DAN been? He's been busy working, almost 7 days a week. This last weekend, he was in Vancouver training for Nintendo (his seasonal part time job that he's been doing for a few years now). It's fun. In fact, it's so fun that I am working a few shifts with him. Yes...that's right, he's going to be my boss. I can't wait though, since it won't be work really. I mean, I get to play with kids, video games, socialize and work beside Dan...AND get paid! I say that's a pretty sweet deal.
Saturday, Oct. 23: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LORENA!

Here at the Purple Onion (i.e., white-trash dive), where Lorena started her birthday party during "Power Hour" (Shots=$1). Look to the left, looks like Jackie and Claire are about to make out! HA-HA!

The sexy birthday girl, Lorena!

Now at Wully Bolly's: Lorena and Q do a shot together...Yeeeagermiiister!?

Claire, Jackie and Mary: the IGA girls, back in the day.

Susan, me and Kel...hmm...seems like I like to take pictures in threes.

Birthday girls, Lorena and Kelly: drunk as can be, and dancing on the tabletops. Nice job, ladies!

Julie and Ashima - I LOVE their long, lucious, flowing, raven black hair!

Mary and her friend, Okash...who was a super cool, funny dude!

I love this picture of Jackie! So adorable!

Me, Kel, Jax & Mary: Hey...we can be the next Lady Marmalade dancers!

Me, and 2 beautiful girls- Claudia and Tasha. Here's a story of coincidence: Claudia and I met back in June, at convocation when we were both graduating, and sat beside each other. At the time, I had told her she looked familiar, but had no idea why. Then, when I introduced myself to her at Lorena's bday, she recognized me. SO all this time, it turns out, she's friends with Lorena! Small world!

Quang (showing off his COOL tongue stud), me and Alvin...who I went to Jr. High school with, but never knew. He is a year older than me (I think). Anyway, isn't he cute? He looks like Japanese anime!

This is Kyla's family's cabin at Sylvan Lake. A bunch of us girls from class this week decided to have a "slumber sleepover". It was super fun...we made dinner together and pretty much bonded, talked about life experiences and being the geeks we are, we applied the theories we learnt in class to our stories. Thanks girls for a great time!!! This will definitely have to become a regular thing! ;) And thanks Kyla, for letting us hang out at your beautiful cabin.

A view of Sylvan Lake from the kitchen window looking out

What a crisp beautiful morning, I can only imagine how gorgeous the same view must be in the summer and fall

Teresa and Christine brushing the snow off Teresa's car before we head off to school

Meena, me, Teresa and Kyla (sorry about the blurriness!)

Kyla, Meena and Teresa preparing dinner

YAY! A successful, delicious homemade dinner!

It was Mark's housewarming party. Dan and I know him because he's friends with Jenn's boyfriend, Steve.

I always have to throw one of these in here...just because we're so darn cute together ;o)

Mark's housewarming party...it was a gongshow. Dan and I barely knew anyone, but it was fun to watch 20 people all absolutely hammered.

10.21.2004

Jenn was passed out as soon as I got there...haha!!! She called me at 6pm hammered, and by the time I arrived at the party at 10pm, she was out! How did I see that one coming?

Jenn after hearing my voice...she woke up after passing out! Ahh, the power of my voice! hehe

Wow...Jenn's really happy...reeeaaallly happy. And I just look like a china doll here for some odd reason....

A cheesy parting shot that had to be taken as Dan and I were departing the party.

Just checking in...

I had an exam yesterday, felt like I overstudied (yes, over , not under)because the prof didn't end up asking us more than 1/2 of the content we had read or that he had said he would put on the exam. Then he goes and throws in 17 case studies, where we have to figure out the diagnosis of the patient. No big deal...but I wish he had emphasized more on diagnosing patients in class! It would have totally helped if we went through some examples! I know the rest of my classmates are bitching about this (here's where I encourage some posting in the "comments" section!)I guess I will see how I did in a couple weeks time.

I also bought part of my halloween costume today...and I'll leave it as a surprise for you to guess what it is (actually...it's not very hard to figure out if I tell you exactly what I bought). So I will start by saying, it is something delicate, magical and feminine. It involves beautifully intense, fantasy colors. Any guesses?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

It was an excellent long weekend! I got to eat two turkey dinners, one at Dan's sister's house, and another one tonight at my place. Mmmm-mmm! I know it's going to be turkey leftovers for the next couple weeks! I don't mind though, mom made the juiciest turkey I've ever had tonight!

It was also an exremely productive weekend in terms of school work and studying, I'm pretty much right on schedule - let's see how long I will last without procrasinating! Not only was I productive in getting some school work done, but...
Saturday night: ...A group of us got together (here at The Publik Tap and Eatery) to discuss New Year's (yes, you read right!) plans for renting a condo for a week in Canmore, to do some snowboarding/skiing, and the rest of the time R 'n R or partying it up.

Kelly was so bored at work one day, she took four colored Sharpies and did a "research project" on possible condos to rent. It was awesome! (Sorry, Kel, I had to show off your awesome work, even though I know you're probably embarassed about it!) Anyway, thanks for doing that, it saved alot of confusion!

Me and Jen checking out Michelle's cool new cell phone. Wow, we were really geeking it up, weren't we? But whatever, Michelle's new cell was sooooo cool! It had a personalized picture for each person who called her. Mine was a cartoon of a cute, asian girl with her hair done in two high buns on top of her head! Totally suitable!

Yesterday, as I was leaving the Fort Sask. Prison, Kelly (the intern) walked me out. At the same time, there was an inmate outside the hallway, behind a glass door staring at us (or was she in a daze?). She looked like Cameron Diaz in "Being John Malkovich", except not as attractive and twice the scariness. Oh, and her hair was even wilder, messier and knottier than this:

I made the comment that she had CRRRRAAAAZZZZY hair, after being a safe distance from the inmate (even though she was behind the glass door), but somehow I didn't think it'd be appropriate to say something if there was even a slight chance of her having super duper hearing.

Me: Wow!!! She had CRRRAAAAAZZZZY hair!!!!!!

Kelly: Oh! I'm glad you could tell that she's a SHE !

Me: What do you mean?!

Kelly: Because she is actually a he . She has male anatomy, but she lives her life like a female.

Me: But...she...looked...so..much...like a woman!!!

Kelly: I know. I don't even think she had plastic surgery done on her face.

Me: Where does she stay then, since she obviously can't stay in the male dorms because she looks female, but she obviously can't stay in the female dorms since she has a penis...wait...does she have boobs?!

Kelly: No, she doesn't...completely male anatomy. She stays in the ATU (a special unit that is sensitive to homosexuals and other sexual disorders).

So that was my interesting indirect encounter with an inmate.

That's not all though...

While I was waiting for Will to get out of his meeting, I had asked Kelly if she gets sexually harassed alot by the inmates, since she's young, female and attractive. She says that there's alot of whistling whenever you walk by, and some joke about going on a date with her after they get out of jail (ooh, that's attractive!!!), but most of them are harmless and not serious. Mostly, they are just funny.

So later on, at one point when Will was taking me through another building on the jail grounds, I had to walk past a bunch of inmates dressed like chefs in a cafeteria. Well, of course...being young and female...(and supposedly...attractive), I got cat-called alot. Ugh. I am sure I was blushing like crazy, but luckily, Will is a big man, and I was able to hide my facial expression behind him, as we walked by the cafeteria. I think Will was oblivious to it because he just kept talking to me as if everything was normal, which thank god, was what I wanted him to do. It probably happens so much with Kelly, that it doesn't phase Will anymore.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll get use to it (as if it happens to me in everyday life...ha!)--maybe I should ask about hair advice from that female inmate? That might stop the whistling...but then, it could also have me mistaken as an inmate!

10.06.2004

These past two days, I have been frantically contacting and applying for various psychology sites, in hopes of getting an internship with one of them. Most agencies were extremely helpful in providing me with suggestions if they didn't offer an intern program themselves. There was only one psychologist, a private practitioner, who seemed a bit rude and blunt, saying that I shouldn't be contacting private psychologists, but whatever...what harm could it do!?

Anyway, a couple years back, when I was applying for an internship in my undergraduate studies, I got an interview at the Fort Saskachewan Max Prison (I tried to find a picture of this to post on here, but for some reason I couldn't find one. And then I even went to the City of Fort Sask. website, but somehow I doubt they would really advertise this as one of their attractions). Anyways, during the interview with the psychologist, Will, we discovered that his son, Matthew, worked with my dad. At that time, my dad had told me that someone he worked with, named Matthew really looked up to him, because my dad taught him so much. Will was very aware of this, and was super excited to find out this connection. However, due to this connection, Will's boss decided he was not allowed to hire me, on the basis that it may be nepotism. (So that's when I ended up working with autistic children for my internship, something I do not regret doing at all).

Fast forward to present day...

I'm sitting in Will's intern's (Kelly) office today (the position I would have got in my undergraduate years if I had been hired), while I wait for him to get out of a meeting. Kelly and I ended up talking for about half an hour about her job, which seemed really neat. She told me she implements and coordinates programs for the inmates mostly. She also told me a bit about how the inmates treat her, which surprisingly, was harmless and very friendly. She says alot of them are there for drug or alcohol related problems (not surprising there).

Will finally came and basically, he offered me the position right then and there. My internship requires me to counsel individuals, couples, families and groups. However, the population at the max would only be limited to individuals and groups, and I need hours with the other kinds of clients. I also personally would love to work with children. So Will is going to hook me up with a counselling position at BOSCO Homes (group home providers), so I can fulfill my requirements and get the best experience possible. He is willing to be my supervisor for both the max and BOSCO Homes. He's going to great lengths because he is forever grateful to my dad, who's taught his son so much, that I know he wants to return the favour. I guess it doesn't hurt that he thinks I'm a bright girl too! ;o)

So I don't start until either later this year (December?) or early next year, as I still need to take a few more course requirements to prepare for counselling clients. I'm very nervous, but at the same time, very excited!!! YAY!

Saturday night Jackie, Michelle and me at the rebuilt Stolli's (it got burnt down about a year ago).

Me and cutie Q He's still single, ladies!!!

I bumped into Jenelle that night too, who was out on a birthday party with some co-workers. She was PLASTERED!!!! HAHA, look at the spillage!

Coincidentally, we bumped into Lon and Sean around midnight...yes...they were DRESSED like this! They dressed like 70's geeks to pretend there was a stag going on, so that they didn't have to wait in the (ultra) long line-up to get into the bar. Talk about SMART thinking!!!! And in case you're wodering...Dan's not dressed up, although it might seem he's part of the retro geek thing (haha, Dan won't read this anyway).

Carry was the first person I actually saw from "The STAG" - but I didn't recognize him (I wonder why!?). I even made a comment, "What a freak!" as he was coming towards me and Dan and yelled, "Hey! I KNOW YOU!" (He was hammered).

Janice and Kim (can you believe Kim, right, is 27 years old and married?!?!!?!? She looks SO YOUNG!)

Saturday, Oct. 2: Sensei Leonard with his daughter receiving a special football from U of A Bears Football Coach.

Sensei Leonard, the head of our karate organization (8th degree black belt) came down from Ontario for a four day karate workshop (Friday to Monday). It was excellent training, and my upper back and arms were sore from throwing so many techniques all weekend.

On Saturday night, we had a banquet at the Lister Hall Conference Centre. The food was good, although for a buffet, it was a small selection. I guess this was good thing, since I have a tendency to not be able to control my appetite when it comes to buffets!

On Sunday, the workshop was only available for Brown and Black belts, and I had the honor of leading the class through one of the Shindo (a stick weapon) techniques we learned last clinic. I could see my Sensei was extremely proud of me, by the smile on his face! That gave me more confidence! :o) Thanks Sensei!
