AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!

Ok, so obviously I haven't updated much in the past month, but I am taking a study break to do so.

Some of you might be wondering how the comprehensive exam went, and...I didn't pass...missed by 5% (passing =70%). BOO! Actually, just under half of the people who wrote the exam did not pass, and the highest mark was 78% - which is not far from the passing grade. What does that tell us about the exam?! Certainly, we're not clueless! So, a few of us will have to rewrite it at the end of November. As bias and whiny as this may sound, the test was not very fair - but I have legit reasons to back this up:

1) The exam included questions on specific things that I had never learned about in the year I took it
2) We were told that there would be no questions with double negatives...and there were!
3)We were also told we wouldn't have to differentiate between very similar diagnoses in the DSM book...and we did! UGH!
4) There were stupid questions about terms that really did not exist, but someone decided to throw them in there just for fun
5) Some questions were completely confusing because they were poorly written

Although, I admit, multiple choice exams are not my preference, I don't do well on them, as I always struggle with the intent behind each possible answer, and tend to overanalyze things...and that never seems to work in my favor. Hmm.

So on top of completing: 5 papers for various classes, an 80 page thesis paper (including researching and reading extra books to write this), conducting a research study (including interviewing participants in my study and transcribing EVERY WORD we say), attending AA meetings (as an observer for a class...but haha, maybe soon to be an ACTUAL MEMBER!!!), "mini" homework assignments for Research class, counselling 3 times a week, transcribing videotapes of myself counselling and writing up case reports, learning and teaching karate...

I get to study all over again...isn't that fun!?

And yes...I am trying so hard not to burn out...but I think I am...that's right people, this may sound really strange and you might not believe me when I say this...but... I AM NOT SUPERWOMEN.

But why I really wanted to post today was because 2 weeks ago, Dan and I entered a contest put on by The Bounce Radio station and CityTV to win a $30,0000 value wedding and a honeymoon to France. Bascially, contestants must submit a video telling how they got engaged and why they should win. The creative producers view every entry, and select the top 3,and post them on The Bounce website. People are to vote for their favorite video - and this is where we'll need your help (if we get selected in top 3).

Dan and I worked our butts off to be creative for our video. We initially wanted to go to significant places for us (i.e., first place we met, first date, etc) but after we viewed what he had so far, we decided it was too boring. So we scrapped that and instead, we created a silly, funny skit as an introduction (instead of the boring "Hi, I'm Dan" and "Hi, I'm Roz" gig). We wanted something catchy, witty, and funny, to capture the creative producers' attention. Then we got into our engagement story on the West Coast Trail. We made a HUGE story book with some significant pictures of us on the WCT, and reenacted the story of our engagement as we were telling it. We included bloopers because a) they are hilarious (you get to see how frustrated/bitchy I get!) and b) it shows how hard and long of a process it was for us (about 12 hours of filming, 8 hours of editing, 2 hours to make props). We're damned determined to win!!!!!! We submitted the video last Saturday.

I had to put alot of school stuff on hold while doing this - so it would be REALLY worth all the time and effort if we won! Even if we don't, at least we have a funny video to always remember our engagement, and something to show at the wedding. I really hope that we at least get selected into top 3, so that you all can have a chance to view the video! :o)

I phoned the radio station yesterday and they informed me that the top 3 videos should be selected by Monday...keep your fingers crossed!!!!! I'll definitely keep everyone updated. It doesn't give much voting time, as the closing date is Oct.27th for votes. :oD
